Everywhere I turn the stores are decked out in pink and red. That means Valentine’s day is around the corner. Here are some ideas to have a fun day this year, whether you’re with someone or alone.
1. Dinner.
There’s the tradition of going out for a romantic meal, however, note that this is a busy time for most restaurants, if you haven’t booked a reservation by now, you might be out of luck.
2. Picninc.
What about eating in? There are many restaurants that deliver. Try using an app like “skip the dishes”. Plan early though. Again, most restaurants will be busy that day and delivery takes extra planning. So, call ahead, not the day of. Instead ordering in, try preparing a meal together. The kitchen can be the “hottest” place in the house.
3. Movie.
Nextflix and chill could be nice, if the setting is right. There are sseveral new romantic comedies available now, although watching a classic from the 50s or 60s is also fun. Try one like:
Casablanca
Sabrina
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Roman Holiday
Designing Women
4. Activity.
Depending on where you live, going skating, sledding, or another winter activity is fun. Afterwards, return to base camp (be it home, or somewhere else) to warm up. I’ll let you decide how you will do that.
5. Alone Time.
If you’re spending Valentine’s day alone, then this is the perfect time for some #selflove. Get out and enjoy yourself, skating, skiing, snowshoeing, or taking in a movie, show, or something else you enjoy. However, if you need some downtime then plan a quiet evening at home. Try relaxing in front of the fireplace with a face mask, a sweet treat, and the cat. You could throw in a long soak in the tub for good measure.
Whatever you do, enjoy the day and show some love!
