Beauty Of Saying No

Do you find yourself doing things that you don’t want to because you couldn’t bear to disappoint someone? Have you ever agreed to help out only to be the one doing most of the work and you didn’t have the heart to turn someone down? Ever feel obligated to do a project knowing you already have way too much on your plate?

The first step to self-care is being able to set your priorities. Priority number one is taking care of yourself. If you want to take care of them you need to learning to say no.

 Here are a few tips to saying no effectively:

 

  1. Choose wisely, the objective is not to burn bridges.
  2. Find out the request first. This helps guard against strong arm tactics
  3. Don’t feel guilty
  4. Set boundaries
  5. Be gently assertive and courteous
  6. Be firm

If someone can't accept your no, then you know the person is probably doesn't respect you. Stand firm, and don't feel compelled to give in just because that person is uncomfortable.You have a lot to do, so be good to yourself by saying no.
